Norwegian Rain - Hokkaido (Unisex)
The Hokkaido coat is an ankle length, fully quilted coat.
The outer fabric is recycled polyester from Japan. Oekotex and Bluesign certified. Water repellent on the outside and waterproof on the inside due to the high the membrane boosting 20,000mm in water column and 15-20 000g/m2/24hour in breathability. This is a premium level in the outdoor industry.
Padded with Norwegian wool (88% wool, 12% polyester made of corn). The use of wool instead of polyester wadding makes it warmer and more breathable than normal polyester wadding, hence the Hokkaido fabric can be much thinner yet stay much warmer.
Quilting the fabric is done through a method called Super Sonic Stitching that uses heat and pressure instead of a needle and thread to avoid penetrating the fabric and its membrane.
The rest of the seams are all heat sealed with seam tape to avoid any penetration of water.
The collar and hood is lined with wool shearling.
Norwegian Rain was established in Bergen (Norway) by business graduate Alexander Helle. The idea was to create tailored rainwear with a sartorial elegance. Together with tailor T-Michael, they created Norwegian Rain. Even though Bergen is a relatively small city, it’s also one of the wettest cities in Europe, it rained for 276 days last year, which obviously makes Bergen the perfect environment to start a rainwear brand.
